It was a special morning at Avilla Elementary School as they celebrated Grandparents Day! A special occasion honoring the cherished relationship between grandparents and their grandchildren. The students were excited to show their grandparents their classroom, what they have been up to, and much more!

Today, East Noble Middle School's P.E. classes paid honor to Welles Crowther, known as "The Man in the Red Bandana", a stock trader who worked in the South Tower on the 104th floor. He valiantly lost his life rescuing people out of one of the collapsing towers on September 11th. Students donned red bandanas, just as Crowther did that fateful day to cover his mouth and nose from the smoke within the building. They performed 9 sets of stair runs (for the month), followed by 11 crunches and/or pushups (for the day), and 18 jumping jacks (for how many people Crowther heroically saved that day). This is a great way to honor and also educate the students since none of them were alive at the time when this tragedy struck our country.

It was a camping night at North Side Elementary for Family Reading Night last evening. With over 10 activities for students and their families to choose from, the stations were a fun way to promote reading!

It was a wild morning at Avilla Elementary School as Principal Harper went missing! Missing posters were lining the halls, and the 4th grade students made finding Mr. Harper the number one priority. 4th graders were tasked to come to the crime scene, examine the clues, and put the pieces together to figure out who kidnapped Mr. Harper. It was a great time for the students to band together and do some problem solving.

This past week SRO Kline spent time at East Noble Middle School. 6th grade students who were in 5th grade last year were excited to see their old SRO from their elementary school days!
SRO Kline had this to say on his visit,
"I popped into several classes. While I was in art class the students were excited to show me their ceramic fish they made. I also crossed paths with several students in the hallway. I enjoyed chatting it up with students in the lunchroom, applied skills classes, as well as several other classes. I enjoyed playing catch with my new friend Bella from Mrs. Shepherd’s applied skills class. I also enjoyed tossing a football around during Knight’s Pass."

Last evening, Rome City Elementary students and their parents had a great time at their Title 1 Lego STEM Literacy Night! Such events are crucial in fostering a love for learning and building skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through play. LEGO, with its hands-on approach, encourages students to think critically and solve problems while having fun, making it an excellent tool for literacy and cognitive development.

The Kiwanis have paired with the East Noble Alternative Learning Center again this year. The Kiwanis worked with local restaurants to provide gift cards to ALC students. Help us in welcoming Didi to East Noble School Corporation!
Didi has joined our staff as a facility dog. A facility dog is a service dog placed in a facility where clients/students can benefit from her services. She is not a therapy dog. She is a two-year-old golden/labrador mix. Ryan Pepple was carefully matched with her by Canine Companions (canine.org). He and Didi have spent the last few weeks collaborating with professional Canine Companions instructors so Ryan could learn the best way to utilize his new partner and her amazing abilities. We are excited to have her a part of the team and can't wait for her to build relationships and be an exceptional facility dog for East Noble School Corporation.

Today, East Noble Middle School had the pleasure to be visited by Kendallville native, and retired teacher of 43 years, Trevor Tipton. He presented the students to his outstanding collection of Indian artifacts and gave them a brief history lesson on where they came from, how they were made, how the Native Americans survived, and iconic battles that happened within the surrounding Kendallville area. They also got to see mastodon bones up close that were passed down in his family. Students were able to get a hands-on experience with some of the artifacts as well.

Today, Rome City Elementary celebrated their first Roman Squad Day of the school year!
