Playdough recipe

4 cups flour
1 ½ cups salt
2 tablespoons oil
1 cup water

Instructions

1. In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the water and oil to the flour and salt mixture. If you're using a dye to color the dough, add it to the bowl (the amount you use will depend on your personal preference). Stir the dough until it forms a ball. Once the dough begins to form a ball, knead the dough with your hands, adding more flour as needed.

2. If possible, store the play dough at room temperature in an air-tight container. If the play dough gets too sticky, just knead in more flour. If the play dough gets too dry, add a drizzle of oil to the dough.

Add a few drops of food color.  Stir well to break up any lumps. Don’t worry about it too much though; you’ll get it all mixed together eventually.  Cook and stir constantly until the playdough starts to become a little more solid. This should take less than 5 minutes.  Once the playdough starts to ball around the spoon, remove the saucepan from the heat and stir until it’s all pretty much clumped together.

Remove the gluten-free playdough onto a solid surface. It will still look a little lumpy and unfinished; that’s okay.  Let it cool for a minute, then knead together. You’ll see the imperfections quickly smooth out and it will look like a ball of playdough.
